About GLASS

GLASS is a group that has evolved through history.

In 1977, it was originally founded as the Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Baruch College, or GALA.  It served as a support group and safe haven for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students at Baruch College.  The group's purpose was to educate and create a tolerant community in the college.  It served as a social club, an educational club, and a political club.

Throughout the years, the group evolved to become a gay-straight alliance, as many friends came to support their fellow students.

In the Fall of 2007, to mark this transition, the group was renamed The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Society of Baruch College, or GLASS.  Today, after being in existence for more than 30 years, the group still provides a safe haven for all students to express their feelings and strives to build a tolerant community at Baruch and to bring more awareness to students about the LGBT Community.

The 1st Annual LGBT History Month @ Baruch College

Hello All!

LGBT History Month was a great success.

All of it would have not been possible without the help of our dedicated members, as well as the members of the organizations cosponsoring our events.

A special thanks to the members of GLASS, USG, The Latino Society, L.A.S.O., Sigma Lambda Upsilon Sorority, VIP, The Difference Makers, and The Baruch City Advertising Society.  Thank you all for making the 1st Annual LGBT History Month a great success!

Sincerely,

Kevin Ng
President of GLASS
